Welcome to Recruit Class 25-01
Become a Young Marine
The Young Marines is a national youth program for boys and girls focused on leadership, citizenship through community service, self-discipline, and living a healthy drug-free lifestyle.
The mission of the Anne Arundel Young Marines is to positively impact America's future by providing quality youth development programs for boys and girls that nurtures and develops its members into responsible citizens who enjoy and promote a healthy drug-free lifestyle. Although the Young Marines is the U.S. Marine Corps' official focal program to the Department of Defense for Drug Demand Reduction, the Young Marines is not a recruiting force for the U. S. Marine Corps. However, we strive to instill the core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment adopted by the Marine Corps to each of our members.
The Young Marines is open to boys and girls ages 8 through completion of high school. The only membership requirement is that the youth must be in good standing at school. Since our humble beginnings in 1959, with one unit and a handful of boys, the organization has grown to over 250 units with 10,000 youth and 3,000 adult volunteers in 46 states, the District of Columbia, Germany, Japan, and affiliates in a host of other countries.
We teach self-discipline where our Young Marines are motivated by personal goals and values. Our Young Marines learn personal responsibility and develop resilience to help them overcome challenges and setbacks while on their way to becoming good citizens.
Our more senior Young Marines are leaders and mentors to the junior Young Marines. Leadership can be taught, and is expected at all levels.
Young Marines are taught to work together to successfully complete a task. They draw on the strengths and skills of each other to accomplish the mission.
Our unit is led by dedicated adult volunteers who are screened and undergo background checks by the Young Marine National Headquarters. Several of our volunteers are veterans. The health, welfare, and safety of Young Marines are paramount. We strive to be positive role models to the youth in our charge.
Your generous donation helps us empower youth through leadership and teamwork.
